His name is I Emmanuel, and he spoke at the UN conference about the value of education. He lives in a place where education is hard to come by and there are a great deal of challenges because of that.

I hope you will all learn and be inspired by Emmanuel as I have been.

He is very interested in getting to know the students in Los Angeles.

I asked him what message he has for the LA students and here's what he said:

"I would like to share with students in LA that education in our world now is the key to everything. Because the world is now like a small hut, closed and the key is education.
and the key is held by the the educated young people now. Shield because young people are right in every State...and Ideals live on in this new, young President of the USA. This evidence that young people strive for the development of education experience and awareness of others."

(Kelly 11/11/08...quoting Emmanuel from Sudan)

THE CHALLENGE

Today is election day and I would love to pose a challenge to you...on this day and everyday (see below)

In my experience (and I know there is scientific evidence to back this up) our thoughts effect reality...soooo instead of worrying about what might go wrong...why not channel your creative, manifesting energy into imagining/dreaming/visioning what you would like to see, feel, experience.

Here's the challenge:

Take 30 seconds right now. Close your eyes and imagine exactly what our country will feel like. It takes so many of us to make up all the world. If enough of us have it, we will have the then be able to have us all. We don't have to have the ones that we had when we let the Bush have us the ones imagine how good it will feel. So what you want to have for the futured. All of us need to put into the matrix what we want the world to be like.

Imagine successful diplomacy.
Imagine peace and restored prosperity.
Imagine the citizen groups, progressive populism, social justice, and the grassroots finding their voice.

Imagine windmills and clean cars and new kinds of suppressed technology.
Imagine the earth being healed and revitalized, with everyone being brothers.
Imagine being very proud of your country and its leaders. Imagine whatever it is that draws you to support change. Imagine what your life will look like.

Just 30 seconds. Do it several times a day. We can shift and change the vibration of this country with positive visions just like this.

See it...Feel it...breathe it...Pass it on. Let us...remember... all of the wonderful reasons we appreciate this reality and our part in helping to build it.

Last week kicked off the official beginning of the Dream Project's '08-'09 school year. Last Monday I met fifty sixth graders at Nimitz Middle School in East Los Angeles in Miss Demowa's and Ms. Zembrano's combined class.

WOW! I was so impressed with the enthusiasm, the participation, the level of awareness in these inner-city 6th graders. I asked the students, "Who knows what the United Nations is?" Half the hands in the room shot right up in the air. I called on one boy who answered, "The United Nations is where representatives from every country around the world meet to work out their differences and come up with solutions to make the world better."

I was flabbergasted...who are these kids? Were they prepped before I walked in? They couldn't have been, this was their first day of school.

We are doing something new this year that we have never done before, and that is bringing in mentors--students that previously went through the program to support the kids that are just getting started. Eighth graders, Karla, Mayra, Jacob, and Michael showed up to dazzle the 6th graders with their leadership skills. I couldn't have been more proud.

Then, on the following day, we ventured over to Van Nuys to initiate day one of the Dream Project with Crossroads High School. There are definitely some bright stars in that group...There was a young man, Money (real name Manny, but he goes by Money, which is think is a brilliant affirmation) who shook my hand at the end of the class and volunteered to be the point person for the class. He said he has been a DJ since he was seven, and will put a music track together so the Crossroads students can create a Millennium Development Goal rap song.

Thank you Rudy for being our fearless camera-man, and to Amanda Addison for being my wonderful assistant. I feel truly blessed to be in your company to to be supported by you.

Needless to say, I am very excited about what will take place this year. Stay tuned!

Kelly

I hope you all had a great 08-08-08…. in the Chinese custom it is a very auspicious day. It was a wonderful day for me, perhaps because I swam in the ocean near dolphins that day, did a beautiful ceremony on the beach, and spent the day with people I love…celebrating my 40th birthday, no less…or as my friend Gypsy says, it is my second annual 39th. Birthdays feel different to me these days than they used to, say in my 20’s or 30’s. It feels like a day of recognition, where each person that called or e-mailed to wish or sing me happy birthday, I got to stop the whirlwind of my normal activity and simply get present to how much I love and appreciate them.

There is a part in the book, Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, where Morrie is so sad after returning from the funeral of a dear friend. He says (and I paraphrase), “The upsetting part wasn’t that my friend died--he lived a good, full life. The sad part is that people said the nicest things about him… about the difference he had made, how he had done things that people were forever grateful for…people really loved him and what a shame that he wasn’t there to hear all those things.”

Morrie goes on to invite his closest friends and relatives over to his house for a “Living Funeral” so he could hear all the nice things they would say about him once he was dead, while he was still alive to hear it. What a brilliant idea!

That is now how I see birthdays…as living funerals…opportunities to completely stop and express deep love and appreciation for the people we love, and to receive that love deeply. In fact, why wait for a birthday, holiday or funeral…our time here is fleeting and precious. I suggest we make a love-fest out of every day of our lives…why not???

In addition to August being my birthday month, this is also the month that I am moving…yet, Dana and I are moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to a 40 acre ranch called Garden of the Goddess.

It is a beautiful retreat center…and you are all welcome to come (though, not all at once.) There are guest houses, and it is a perfect place for a goddess retreat…so please don’t hesitate to come out and book a session, book a retreat…this place is guaranteed to take your breath away…sooo beautiful.

And here’s the other piece of news…on September 3rd, I will be speaking at the United Nations in Paris. I will be moderating a panel about:

** The role that young people play in the fulfillment of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals

** The role that art and media play in affecting the tipping point regarding human rights, health, and sustainability in the world

** Innovative ways that educators and youth leaders can incorporate the Millennium Development Goals and digital storytelling into the classroom

**and I will be showing a clip from the Dream Project documentary

Please send your prayers…I will be taking you with me!

I have also connected with the amazing Jemma Jacques from Dreams Can Come True Foundation.

And for the last (for now) bit of news…while I will be traveling a lot, Goddess Queen Magazine is undergoing a transformation…we will have a new issue for you tri-monthly instead of monthly. If you have any suggestions about changes you would like to see, articles you would like to read, or anything that we can do to enrich your experience of Goddess Queen Magazine, please let us know!

I wish you the most magnificent moment, and may you be present to how deeply loved and appreciated you are…and may you share the depth of your love and gratitude for the people whom you love in your live!

Blessings,

Kelly

*******************

Join the Dream Circle!

Check out my new e-book series: Goddess in a Pinch! All men and women are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. Before my logical brain woke up, I would give myself permission to write whatever wanted to be written from my subconscious/dream state.

This “dream state” writing would often wind its way to being relevant to the particular aspect of the book I happened to be working on. Even if my writing took a detour I would nonetheless find myself opened to a smorgasbord of thoughts and feelings that I could apply to the subject at hand that never would have occurred to me otherwise.

If there was nothing in particular that wanted to be written, I would simply write about my dreams from the night before. This actually has become a practice I believe will be with me ‘til the day I die, and perhaps the most valuable practice I have ever discovered. I believe there is a brief and precarious window period between the realm of sleep and awake, and if accessed, our entire day becomes brighter with a heightened awareness and aliveness. I actually feel that this may very well be the short cut to truly developing and strengthening our intuition. As a writer, what gift could be more valuable?

I believe it is specifically due to this practice that I was able to “dream up” an entire novel. About a year ago, I awoke at 3am (many writers tell me that their best writing ideas come to them at this god forsaken hour) with the entire story…the beginning, middle, end…the characters, their names, dress, voice tonality, the whole 9, as it were.

Without having to painstakingly try to figure out these characters and plot line, it was delivered to me, and all I had to do was take dictation.

I’ve talked to many writers that receive their best ideas, or plot lines from their dreams…and why not? Our dreams connect us with the vast aspect of who we are…as we sleep we dance with souls from time immemorial and explore realms about which have heretofore never been written. Why not let your dreams do your heavy plot lifting for you so that you can spend your precious awake time downloading these inspired messages. Who knows, tonight you just may receive the plot twist you’ve been praying for!

May your wildest and most wonderful writing dreams all come true!

Last week I had one of those "I could die now" moments...not that I really want to die, but I felt so filled with joy and gratitude that I felt like, if I did die, I would do so with a smile on my face. Ok, maybe I'm sounding a bit morbid...but the Native American's say you should live as if death was right over your shoulder.

Why was I so blissed out? I attended the Celerity Nascent Charter School's graduation. One hundred eighth graders that we've been working with for the past year stood on the stage beaming. They did a tribute to the Dream Project...a "call and response" song...i.e. "WHEN I SAY DREAM, YOU SAY PROJECT," "DREAM" "PROJECT" "DREAM" "PROJECT!" The audience went wild...it was like being at a Laker Game (when they are winning.)

This project has truly taken on a life of its own, and has clearly inspired the kids we have worked with. Here is a video that we played for the kids that summarizes the year...enjoy!

to find our more about the dream project, go to: www.dreamprojectun.org

About Kelly

Popular Media guest, Kelly Sullivan Walden, is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Dream Coach, and author of Warner Books’ I THE DREAMER’S DICTIONARY FOR THE 21ST CENTURY. Kelly is also the author of DISCOVER YOUR INNER GODDESS QUEEN, an Inspirational Journey from Drama Queen to Goddess Queen, as well as the publisher of the popular Goddess Queen Magazine.com.
